This single-owner collection brings together two distinct artistic traditions: traditional fine art and original animation artwork. From abstract compositions by Kansas City artist Arthur Kraft to drawings and production cels featuring beloved Disney and television characters, the auction offers an eclectic selection of original works.
The fine art collection includes paintings, watercolors, etchings, drawings, and limited edition prints. Arthur Kraft is represented by an abstract starburst oil painting and mixed media relief. Other artists include Carolyn Humphreys, Sharon Craft, Jesse Barnes, J. Renoy, A. Katsikas, Louis Shipsee, Maurice Legendre, Guy Nez Jr., and Shirley Davis Coleman. Works on paper include a Marcel Mouly Le Port au Quai Rouge lithograph, Boyd Saunders engravings and etchings, Fernando Torm botanical etchings, and a Stephen McMillan Morning Fog etching. Also featured are more than a dozen detailed drawings cataloged under A. Landes Bauffey, depicting botanical, still life, and architectural subjects.
The animation portion features production cels, original drawings, and character artwork associated with Disney, Filmation, and other studios. Highlights include five Shamus Culhane Pluto animation drawings, Donald Duck artwork, a Lion King Timon drawing, and a Great Mouse Detective Ratigan cel. Additional highlights include a Mel Blanc signed Barney Rubble drawing, a Paul Carlson signed Mr. Magoo cel, and a Joe Montana signed Woody Woodpecker cel.
Other animation subjects include Mighty Mouse, Pink Panther, Droopy the Dog, Archie and Friends, and characters from The Real Ghostbusters, Flash Gordon, Tarzan, Pinocchio, and more. Several production cels are accompanied by animation drawings, offering a glimpse into the creative process behind animated films and television.
