BA075 – DESIGNED TO IMPRESS: A Paradise Valley Time Capsule of Fine Furnishings, Jewelry, Art & Fashion
A designer-furnished Paradise Valley residence. Fine art, statement furnishings, exceptional fashion, gold jewelry and collected objects from an era when interiors were layered, coordinated and quite literally designed to impress. Brunk’s Auction presents the complete contents of an impressive 4,300-square-foot Paradise Valley home, professionally furnished around the turn of the century and remarkably representative of the polished, richly layered style of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Throughout the residence, furnishings, art, lighting, decorative objects, fashion and personal accessories were selected as part of a complete interior—not simply accumulated one piece at a time.
At the center of the collection is a Yamaha GranTouch Disklavier grand piano, Model DGT2XG, accompanied by its bench, music and disks. Furnishings range from formal dining and occasional pieces to Bernhardt, Hekman, Fancher, Saloom Furniture, Pacifica Designs and White Fine Furniture, along with mirrors, lighting, display pieces, rugs and decorative furniture chosen to create the elaborate, finished rooms associated with the era.
The art collection adds another dimension, led by a Kirk Randle desert landscape, a large C. Rozan “Song of Summer” oil painting, works by Joseph Parker and Shirley Wilmarth, and numerous framed paintings, prints and decorative works. Collected objects include limited-edition Giuseppe Armani Florence sculptures, Lladro, Waterford, Swarovski, Fenton, Goebel Hummel and Limoges, along with an unusual Reuge Swiss mechanical singing-bird automaton, an Edoardo Tasca limited-edition Italian porcelain pheasant, bronze and decorative sculpture, art glass and distinctive objects found throughout the home.
The closets may be every bit as exciting as the rooms. The current catalog includes four Chanel handbags, Gucci handbags, a Cartier leather shoulder bag, a Judith Leiber crystal minaudiere, a Judith Leiber belt, St. John Evening and St. John by Marie Gray, numerous Draper’s & Damon’s fashions, a Chanel silk scarf, fur pieces and a broad collection of vintage and designer clothing and accessories.
The jewelry collection is substantial in its own right, with numerous pieces of 10K, 14K and 18K gold. Highlights include a 72-gram 14K gold charm bracelet with 15 charms, a 14K gold diamond ring featuring an approximately 1.25-carat center stone with baguette side diamonds, a 14K aquamarine ring, fire opal rings, gold chains and pendants, cultured pearl jewelry, an 18K Florentine florin pendant, vintage coin and medallion pendants, and collectible costume jewelry by Miriam Haskell, Napier, Trifari, Monet, Sarah Coventry and Jerry DeNicola.
Sterling silver is another major component of the auction. The collection includes an extensive service of Treasure by Rogers, Lunt & Bowlen “William & Mary” sterling, with table forks, salad forks, oyster forks, soup spoons, teaspoons, knives, butter spreaders and serving pieces, along with sterling by Towle, Alvin, Gorham, Frank M. Whiting and International Sterling. Several patterns date to the early 20th century, giving the silver collection a depth that extends well beyond the turn-of-the-century decorating story.
From a grand piano and designer handbags to gold jewelry, sterling silver, fine art, fashion, porcelain, crystal and furnishings from virtually every room, BA075 is a snapshot of a very particular moment in luxury residential design—and an opportunity to acquire the individual pieces that created it.
