Washington Street United Methodist Church Indoor Yard Sale

Looking for a bargain? The Active Faith Ministry Group of Washington Street United
Methodist Church will host a huge indoor yard sale on Friday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 26 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The sale, which will include household items, collectibles, jewelry, furniture, small appliances, linens, holiday décor and more will be in the church’s activity hall at 1401 Washington St. in downtown Columbia. Donations of sellable items are also being accepted from Sept. 16-24. Items may be dropped off at Washington Street UMC between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every weekday. Proceeds from the yard sale will support local initiatives and mission priorities of Active Faith to help the homeless population, respond to the emergency/immediate needs of the community, assist vulnerable children, provide aid to refugee families, and help bolster campus ministries.

“When residents of a Columbia Housing Authority apartment complex were displaced because of a carbon monoxide [leak] … we bought bus tickets for them so they could get around town,” Active Faith founder Deborah Rowe recalled. “We’ve done duffel bags for foster children, … we sponsor low-income daycares, and we’ve done food drives for
foster families. We’ve done all sorts of things with the money.”
