Phil Tippett is closing his animation studio in Berkeley after 35 years at this location. The 6200 square-foot warehouse is absolutely packed with film props, models, prototypes, memorabilia, ephemera, and production equipment. Model making equipment, machine shop items, cameras, lenses, stop-motion equipment and motion capture gear. Many of the items are signed by Phil as well as cast, production crew, and directors. There are sketches, promotional stills. Manysigned, framed movie posters, set blue prints, production paperwork, call sheets, publicity scrap books. Film used models, prototypes, alternate versions, movie props, and costumes. Phil Tippett has animated films stretching back to the early 1970's. He was hired by George Lucas and Industrial Light and Magic in 1975 to create the stop-motion, holographic chess scene in Star Wars (there are 3 models from that scene at this sale!).
