Greetings! We’ve got a doozie for you! Thursday 1-5 pmis soft open: No signs out Friday to Sunday: 10-4,General Public welcomed with signs. Next weekend as well. Hinks Department Store of downtown Berkeley fame is long gone, and sadly, H. J. Hink’s greatgrandson, “Bob,”has recently passed. It is his estate sale thatwe are managing and his life that we are celebrating. Bob’s father, Robert E Hink, wasthe last President of Hinks. Bob didn’t follow in the family footsteps, instead, his feet were tangoing, working out on tennis courts and weight rooms, and planted firmly in front of his multiple computers. Later in life, he became employed as a party planner. Come take a sentimental journey through Bob’slife. AsRobert F Hink,Bob was totallyinto his first name, when it came to collections. Got a“Bob” on your gift list? You must come by for one of the20 Bob-related tshirts, Xmas items, candles, sandals, socks, gym bag, and/or signs. Even so, I did finda few Hink items (including tattered Hink jerseys, books, photos, etc.). Furniture: Bob’s furniture has an Asian flairmostly, as well as being mid century modern. First, the Asian influence from living in Japan: Rosewood Asian bedroom suite (king bed frame, highboy, two nightstands), round Rosewooddining table with lazy Susan and 6 chairs, Office furniture, room dividers, accent tables, etc. Second, mid century modern kitchen booth (possibly from a Berkeley downtown eatery), GE Oven,Scandinavian Design Sideboard, pole lamp, rattan living room /patio furniture, K. Mobler Lounge chair with matching ottoman, office chair, etc. Finally, moreoffice chairs, including a nice meshX-chair, a futon, and plenty of lawn furniture and stackable partyplastic tables and chairs. Bob the dancer and party animal: Thebasement is devoted to this part of Bob’s life. He was quite the Tango dancer, won awards, had his own maple wooddance floor installed (which we are selling, as well as the mirrored walls), nice dance shoes, tapes, and posters/ related art work. Indeed, he has quite the library of music, ranging from Classical, rock ‘n’ roll, disco, country, big band, ballroom, etc. We are selling all of his party supplies, including bubble and fogmachines, hula hoops, and party decor. There’s also an amazingLycan 1206Midget spotlight for tracking stage performances, as well as other lighting options. Audio/video equipment: Youreally can’t have a party unless you’ve got audio and video equipment, and trust me, Bob had some nice gear. Peruse the photos, or better yet, come by in person. to whet your appetite, there are multiple surround sound systems, including Arcam, Denon, and Anthem (7 channels, 140 Watts). In addition, there is a Tascam digital recorder, Denon 5 disc CD player, Phillips DVD Recorder, Parasound amplifier, a Panasonic blue ray player, and a 2022Sony LED 75” TV. you’ve got the idea, but, oh yes, let’s not forget the Seinhauser microphones and headphones. Bob the Computer Scientist and Astronomy Enthusiast: His career as a computer scientist is obvious— wall of software, hardware, computers, laptops, printers, programming manuals, and cords! He loved Java! Then, he took an interest in Astronomy and has some serious Oberwerk binoculars, an Orion telescope, tripods with GoTo Celestron mounts. He was also a pilot— interesting flight books. ….Ialmost forgot his Pyrex flasks and beaker collection! Bob, the Sportsman: (so much, it’s in garage and room devoted to just sports and sportswear): Bicycling —Brompton Collapsible Bike, Tandem bike, bike pumps, helmets, etc); Skiing; Tennis — Penn racket, tennis ball lobbers; Parachuting— parachutes and jumpsuits; Weightlifting and Working out—Olympic grade weight set and workbench/stand,HealthRider exercise bike, Torso Track , Precor 612 Rower, etc. There’s also camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, etc). Bob, thePhotographer: For the most part, modern digital equipment —- Canon, Plympus cameras, flashes, and accessories. Bob and his kitchen, dining, and barware: Lots of Breville (toaster, blender, griddle, etc), Cuisinart, Tavola ovens, Panasonic microwaves, fondue pots, cookware, etc. The kitchen is packed full!. Also, lots of Japanese dining, a set of Sanyo China, and some nicer crystal pieces (including Waterford). Barware— Bob liked beer and wine, fun collectible steins and glassware, and Beringer winery souvenirs. Bob’s Media: Books, CDs, DVDs, Cassertes and VHS tapes abound Across several genres, including dance, of course. Asian art and Musical instruments: Lots! Bob’s Clothes: 4 racks of men’s clothes —from outdoor wear, formal suits and tops, to casual wear and sportswear. In the spirit of Hink’s department store, we brought ina rack of fun women’s clothing. Bob’s Garage: Tools and hardware, including drill, air compressors, Mastergrip AirShop, belt sander, nail guns, shop vac, ladders of multiple sizes and types, fireplace insert, gardening, (and some of the aforementioned sporting goods).
