Backyard Sale — Dealers + Estate Remnants — Mount Dora (near Dairy Queen)

This is a backyard sale from a few antique dealers, the remnants of my 99-year-old late mother’s estate, and a lady selling to help pay medical expenses. There’s something for everyone: more “chick stuff” than my past sales, plus guy stuff and classic guy junk.

Honest expectations: If you’re coming from hours away, it’s probably not worth the trip. You’re not going to find the Hope Diamond in a $5 box lot. But you will find plenty to poke through.

When

Wednesday & Thursday, October 1–2 • 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Address: Will be posted a few days before the sale. We’re on the outskirts of Mount Dora, on the other side of the lake, somewhat near the Dairy Queen. I’ll put a sign at the foot of my street on Lakeshore Drive—please plug the address into your GPS once posted.

What’s here

Household items, glassware, household goods

Antiques of various sorts

A few pieces of furniture (not too much)

Clothing: almost none—basically two women’s bathrobes

Sewing supplies: industrial thread spools, regular thread spools, a couple sewing baskets, and some unused crewel kits

Cameras: some vintage—nothing too terrific or highly collectible, but neat

HO train accessories

Plenty of tools from various trades—some in good condition, some… not so good

Linens and other things, plus a few surprises (honestly, I won’t know everything that makes it out until about an hour before we start)

I’ll post more pictures as time allows. Most items are priced to sell (at least from me and one dealer). The third dealer may be a bit higher, but he’ll bring better quality items.

House rules (please and thank you!)

Cash only. I cannot accept online payments. Bring change and small bills. I will not break a $20 for a 50¢ purchase.

No early birds. The backyard is fenced and locked, and I will not let anyone in early. Please don’t ask—it’s unfair to everyone.

Parking: We’re in a limited-access neighborhood with little traffic. Do not park in people’s driveways or on lawns. Please be respectful.

Please don’t park in my driveway. I need it for helpers and for folks loading up.

Bathroom: Not available. I’m having sewer line trouble, and the house is a mess while I’m moving things out to clean. Also, I have a large rescue dog, and if people go in the house, he goes nutty.
Suggestion: the Dairy Queen nearby has a bathroom that’s reasonably—okay, somewhat—clean, and the food isn’t all that bad.

Safety: The sale is in the backyard on the grass. Enter at your own risk; not responsible for accidents. Please be careful.

Early tarp lifters & trespassers: Please don’t make me be the bad guy. Don’t pull tarps or show up hours early. I really don’t want to involve the police or upset my (occasionally cranky) neighbors.

A few more notes

Many of these items could be in Renninger’s, but I have too many and don’t feel like dragging them to an extravaganza—so it’s a backyard day.

Time constraints: I cannot answer “how much is this?” messages and I can’t hold items. Best bet: come see.

After you’re done, Mount Dora has plenty of places to eat. No, I don’t get kickbacks. 😉
