The exposed 12 x 12 hand sawn beams are still visible. The cabin was built in the 1860's and was the first cabin North of the Montlake cut which of course was not built until the early 1900's.the original owner grew thistle berries and made thistle berry wine which he sold to the Fiddler Inn which was originally a Royal Canadian Mounty outpost? In the 1940's the house was built , expanding the one room cabin to the current home. This home was purchased from Ed Hume (who had purchased it from the then owner) by the current family that has owned the home since the 1950's SAME FAMILY HAS OWNED THIS PROPERTY FOR OVER 60 YEARS. The house and property are for sale. The boulder in the basement is thought to be from the last Mt. Rainier eruption. It is about 20 ft. tall (but imbedded into the ground with about 4 feet showing. They were unable to blast it away! For those of you who live in the Ravenna/Wedgwood neighborhood it is akin to the "Wedgwood rock" large and immovable!
