Time to cut down on some of the excess gear I've accumulated over the years. I've tried to provide basic descriptions of the various items, but you can easily find out more with a quick web search. Tenor banjo - unknown brand. The original (awful) friction peg tuners have been replaced with geared, guitar style tuners Violin - a basic student model. Bought this in the late 90s intednding to teach myself how to play violin. Sat on a shelf in its case since I overtightened and broke the bow ever since. Comes with a plastic case, a chin rest, a block of rosin and the aforementioned broken bow. $25 Accordian - Crucianelli brand. 2 octave keyboard, 12 button. A bit rough, but playable. $15 Epiphone "Mandobird" 4 string electric mandolin - sort of like a tiny Thunderbird, tuned like a mandolin.Unfortunately took a tumble off a stand and has a bent pot shaft (the electronics still work fine) and a dent in the top of the body. $50 Agile HEA-30B/5 5 String acoustic bass guitar, with piezo pickup/preamp $100 Dean Backwoods 12 string banjo - basically a cross between a banjo and a 12 string guitar $100 Lucida LG-BS1-E bajo sexto with piezo pickup/preamp - if you're not familiar, this is sort of like a 12 string guitar, an octave down. A 12 string acoustic bass, essentially. Typically used in Mexican folk music, but if that's not your thing, it sounds surprisingly cool through an amp with a bunch of distortion! $100 Washburn KC-70V electric guitar $100 Alvarez RD2012U 12 string acoustic guitar $100 Jay Turser hollowbody electric guitar. Dual humbuckers, includes hard case.$150 Crate BX-25 bass amp - $20 Acoustic Model 230 guitar head - one of the old models, from before the brand name was revived. I bought this one some time in the mid 1990s. $80 Vintage Boss GE-10 guitar equalizer - $10 BC Rich EMP-45 effects memory programmer - this is an effects switching unit. Capable of switching up to 4 effects units, with 5 programmable presets.$20 each, I have 2. Alesis Midiverb II $20 Roland Saturn 09 - a basic analog synth.$30 Casio CZ-1 - '80s digital synth (and it sounds like it), 61 key velocity sensitive keyboard. Actually has quite a bit of flexibility in programming sounds. $80 Casio CZ-1000 - very similar to the CZ-1, but 49 keys, and not velocity sensitve $50 Breakaway Vocalizer 1000 - rudimentary pitch to MIDI converter, with a variety of built in sounds. As the name implies, it's meant to be sung into, detect the pitch of your voice, and generate a corresponding synthesized sound. $15 Akai S612 sampler - one of the first samplers to hit the market. Comes with the optional quick-disc drive (looks sort of like the once common 3.5" floppy, but not compatible). The drive is a bit beat up, but I beleive these are also capable of doing a MIDI sample dump (slow, sure, but it's not like this thing has a ton of memory). Includes a handful of quick-discs. Pretty crude compared to a modern sampler (OK, it's pretty crude compared to any sampler app you could get on your iphone), but many of the parameters can be manipulated via buttons or knobs on the front panel. Evidently these were pretty expensive back in the day (this one still has a Daddy's Junky Music price tag on it for $349 - and that was used!), but in 2013 this one can be yours for $15. Theremin, unknown brand, pitch only. Mounts to a mic stand. Could be played simultaneously while playing guitar. $20 Roland TD-7 electronic drum kit. Includes Yamaha drum stool and Sonor kick pedal. $350 This isn't the complete list - I may dig up some more odds an ends as the weekend approaches.We'll have some more typical household type stuff out as well.
