Below is a brief description of what we are raising money for. So far we have donations from around 10 families. We are still accepting donations. We will plan to be open from 8am-6pm Thurs, Fri., and Saturday! 525 W. Elizabeth St. Some of the items so far include: Bike, outdoor toys, books, dvds, vhs tapes, entertainment center, chest of drawers, sofa table or entry way table, Queen size mattress and box springs, desk, tons of kids and adult clothes, lots of household items, seasonal decoration, hoses, rocking chair, office chair, pallet, wooden shutter, kitchen items, several tvs and so much more I can't even think of right now. We have other donations lined up so we will update as we get more stuff. Alexander ("Xander") Speidel was born in 2010 with a rare genetic disorder: Shwachman Diamond Syndrome (SDS). While many systems are affected (skin, pancreas, bone formation and growth, etc.), one of the primary problems is bone marrow failure, which can lead to leukemia. In a patient with Shwachman Diamond, leukemia is almost always a death sentence. In August 2012, doctors at Children's Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri told Xander his marrow was failing and a bone marrow transplant was needed. After much discussion and prayer, his mom and dad visited with experts in Seattle, Washington, who agree a transplant is necessary to save his life. In March of 2013, Xander and his mom began their journey to Seattle Children's Hospital and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance so he can receive a life-saving bone marrow transplant--before he develops leukemia. Xander has successfully had his bone marrow transplant, however because of the severity of the surgery is slated to stay in Seattle for +100 days post surgery. He has improved, but continues to struggle with re-gaining his strength as the doctors continue to work to help Xander in his fight. Friends from Westside Family Church are planning a garage sale where all the proceeds will be given to Xander and his family.
