CASH / KNOWN CHECKS / CREDIT CARDS (3% surcharge) http://www.newenglandestatesales.net/Silvermine.html After 85 years of hospitality, one of Connecticut's most historic treasures is closing! From the important paintings, folk art, and primitive pieces to the period furniture and decorative items, the entire contents of the restaurant and Inn must be sold. The Silvermine Tavern is furnished with American country antiques, collected by John Kenneth Byard who was a noted advisor to the antique collections of Deerfield Village as well as Henry Ford's restorations. Byard was the proprietor of the renowned Silvermine Tavern and Galleries from 1929 until 1947. Much of the art in the guest rooms are original works by Silvermine artists including Dorothy Randolph Byard, the proprietor's wife, who was an accomplished poet, writer, and an artist-member of the Silvermine Guild. The collection that remains at the Silvermine Tavern today reflects Byard's keen eye and diverse taste: country American furniture, primitive paintings, folk art, decorative accessories, handmade tools, and household artifacts. These photos are just a very small sampling of what is here. The Silvermine Tavern dates back over 200 years and is known for its warmth, friendly inviting air, and country charm. From its creaky wooden floors and venerable ancestor paintings to its traditional New England setting and antique canopy beds, the Tavern was everything a country inn should be. This once in a lifetime opportunity to take home a piece of the historic Tavern will include thousands of items. Some have not left the building in over 75 years! We are cleaning out attics, cellars, and outbuildings discovering new treasures every day that haven't been seen in years. We invited you to join us at the sale to take home your own Silvermine Tavern memento or keepsake as a remembrance of a stay at the Inn, eating in the restaurant, or attending a special occasion. Plan to return one last time and take a piece of its great history home with you. Please keep checking our website for more updates and further information to come! http://www.newenglandestatesales.net/Silvermine.html
